Talisker 57 North

Single Malt Whisky
57% Alcohol content

Talisker (Carbost, Scotland) is the only distillery on the Isle of Skye. The malted barley used in production comes from Muir of Ord. Talisker has an unusual feature - swan neck lye pipes. Talisker’s water comes from springs directly above the distillery via a network of pipes and wells. Talisker is famous for it’s distinctively peppery character, so hot as to make one taster’s temple steam.

House Style: Volcanic. Extremely spicy!

The Talisker 57 North’s name derives from its unusually high latitude on the Isle of Skye.

Tasting Notes

Taster: Dave Broom

Nose: Back to smoke, this time with an added leathery note. Smouldering leaves, malt, cypress wood.

Smooths slightly with water but still robust with dense smoke, salted fish, dried seaweed. Oily rich and rewarding. Would be great with sashimi.

Palate: Slow and chewy. Fine grip. Broad and complex. Needs water to bring out a mix of dry/charred smoky notes.

Finish: Long,tingling.

Comment: The polar opposite to Talisker 18. Rugged and warming.
