Talisker 2000 Distiller's Edition

Single Malt Whisky
45.8% Alcohol content

Talisker (Carbost, Scotland) is the only distillery on the Isle of Skye. The malted barley used in production comes from Muir of Ord. Talisker has an unusual feature - swan neck lye pipes. Talisker’s water comes from springs directly above the distillery via a network of pipes and wells. Talisker is famous for it’s distinctively peppery character, so hot as to make one taster’s temple steam.

House Style: Volcanic. Extremely spicy!

Tasting Notes

Taster: Ian Wisniewski

Nose: Complex, burning heather, sweet tobacco, old warehouse, spent bonfire. Underneath is almond paste / nougat, butter biscuits and a lightly herbal note. Plenty of smoke. Rich and complex.

Palate: A slow start, then pepper, a light smoked fish note, fruit syrup. Builds to an explosive finish.

Finish: Red peppercorn.

Comment: Truly fantastic. All of Talisker’s attack…and then some

Like all Classic Malt Distillers Editions, this Talisker has been double-matured in a second cask after the original maturation period (in this case in Amoroso Sherry casks). The experience is older, sweeter and richer than the regular bottlings. This Edition has a very special bitter-sweet harmony where the peat softens on the palate to a rich, sweet, juicy fruit finish.
