Springbank 15 YO

Single Malt Whisky
46% Alcohol content

Springbank Distillery is one of the last surviving producers of Campbeltown Single Malts. Springbank’s standard bottling is a 10 year old, distilled two and a half times, and is not chill-filtered, nor does it have color added. Distilling whisky two and a half times is quite unusual, as it means that during the distillation process some of the low wines are collected before the second distillation, and then mixed back into the feints for another distillation. This means that some parts of the spirit has been through distillation twice and some parts three times. The spirit is then aged in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.

House Style: salty, oily, coconut.

Tasting Notes

Taster: Paul Pacult

Nose: Barley malt to sea breeze to seaweed to heather. Later releases: oaky vanilla, honey, sherry cask, scrambled egg and minerals. A stunning bouquet whose best virtue is understated. Palate: Tantalizingly oily, buttery and oaky sweet. Expands to tastes of marzipan, marshmallow, baked pear/peach pastry and bacon fat. Finish: Fruit/grape thrust that’s unbelievably luscious. Comment: A masterpiece.
