Macallan 32 YO by Old & Rare Platinum

Single Malt Whisky
Single Cask
53.2% Alcohol content

Macallan is Speyside’s best known heavyweight. To collectors, no name has the magic of Macallan. Originally, Macallan was only matured in oak sherry casks brought to the distillery from Jerez, Spain. Beginning in 2004, Macallan introduced the Fine Oak series (lighter), with the whisky mellowed in bourbon oak casks as well as sherry ones.

House Style: Big, oaky, resiny sherried, flowery-fruity. Spicy.

Tasting Notes

Honeyed and spiced initially on the nose – it opens beyond that to a light oak and dried fruit profile. Soft on the palate – then when held there – detect that same light oak and spiced formula plus juicy, chewy barley and a hint of smoke ...... all leading to a finish carrying malted barley, camphor, coconut, more spice, honey and drifting smoke.

A series from Douglas Laing's Old & Rare Platinum Selection.

Distilled in 1979 and bottled in 2011. Only 212 bottles were produced. Considerably better than regular distillery Macallan 30 years old.
